Conditions we treat

Chronic Vaginal Itching & Discomfort

Persistent itching (pruritus) without a clear cause can be a sign of an underlying inflammatory condition or skin disorder. We work to identify the source of the irritation and provide targeted treatment to soothe the skin and break the itch-scratch cycle.

Vulvodynia (Chronic Vaginal Pain)

Vulvodynia is chronic, unexplained pain in the vulva that lasts for at least three months. It can manifest as a constant burning, stinging, or rawness. Our treatment approach is multi-faceted and may include topical medications, pelvic floor physiotherapy, and pain management strategies to reduce nerve sensitivity.

Lichen Sclerosus

Lichen Sclerosus is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that most often affects the vulva and anal area. It causes the skin to become thin, white, and wrinkled, leading to intense itching, pain, and an increased risk of tearing. While there is no cure, we provide effective treatments, primarily potent topical steroids, to manage symptoms and prevent progression.

Lichen Planus

Lichen Planus is another inflammatory condition that can affect the skin and mucous membranes, including the vagina and vulva. It can cause painful sores, erosions, and scarring. Treatment is aimed at healing the erosions and managing pain, often involving topical corticosteroids and other specialised therapies.

Lichen Simplex Chronicus (Eczema)

This condition results from chronic scratching or rubbing, which thickens the skin and creates an ongoing itch-scratch cycle. It is often triggered by an underlying irritant or inflammatory condition. Treatment focuses on breaking this cycle with topical steroids and addressing the root cause.

Painful Intercourse (Dyspareunia)

Pain during or after sexual intercourse is a common but complex issue with many potential causes, including vaginal atrophy, vulvodynia, pelvic floor dysfunction, and skin conditions. We conduct a thorough evaluation to determine the cause of your pain and create a treatment plan to help restore comfort and intimacy.

Desquamative Inflammatory Vaginitis (DIV)

DIV is an inflammatory condition of the vagina characterised by profuse vaginal discharge, irritation, and pain. It is often mistaken for a persistent infection. Diagnosis involves microscopic examination of the vaginal discharge, and treatment typically includes topical corticosteroids or antibiotics.

Yeast Infections (Candida)

While occasional yeast infections are common, recurrent or complicated infections require a more thorough investigation. We can help identify underlying factors and provide effective treatment to break the cycle of recurrence.

Atrophic Vaginitis (Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause)

After menopause, the decline in oestrogen can lead to thinning, drying, and inflammation of the vaginal walls, known as atrophic vaginitis or Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM). This can cause dryness, burning, and pain. We offer a range of hormonal and non-hormonal treatments to restore vaginal health.
