Bladder Health (LUTS)

Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) can be frustrating and disruptive, but relief is possible.

Many women mistake LUTS for simple, recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), when the underlying cause may be a more complex condition like overactive bladder or interstitial cystitis.

At The Women’s Health Vulvo-Vaginal & Genitourinary Clinic, we specialise in diagnosing and treating these often misunderstood conditions. We move beyond temporary fixes to identify the root cause of your symptoms and provide a comprehensive treatment plan to help you regain control and improve your quality of life.

Do you experience any of these symptoms?

  • An urgent and frequent need to urinate
  • Bladder pain or pressure, even when tests show no infection
  • Recurrent UTIs with no clear cause
  • Difficulty completely emptying your bladder
  • Waking up multiple times a night to urinate

If these symptoms sound familiar, our specialists can help.

Conditions we treat

Bladder Pain Syndrome (Interstitial Cystitis)

Bladder Pain Syndrome (BPS), also known as Interstitial Cystitis (IC), is a chronic condition that causes bladder pain and pressure, and a persistent, urgent need to urinate. The discomfort can range from mild to severe. Because its symptoms are similar to a UTI, it is often misdiagnosed. We offer a range of treatments, including bladder-instillation therapy, oral medications, and dietary modifications, to help manage your symptoms.

Frequent Urination & Urgency

Feeling like you constantly have to rush to the toilet can be exhausting and limiting. This sense of urgency and frequency can be a sign of an overactive bladder or other underlying issues. Our team will conduct a thorough assessment to understand the cause and develop a tailored plan, which may include bladder retraining, medication, or pelvic floor support.

Recurrent UTIs

If you suffer from urinary tract infections that keep coming back, it’s important to investigate further. While antibiotics can treat an acute infection, they may not address the underlying reason for the recurrences. We explore potential causes, such as pelvic floor dysfunction or changes related to menopause, and provide strategies to help prevent future infections.

Overactive Bladder (OAB)

Overactive Bladder is characterised by a sudden, uncontrolled urge to urinate, which may be accompanied by leakage (urge incontinence). It is a common and treatable condition. Treatment options range from lifestyle changes and bladder training to medications that help calm the bladder muscle.
